Dell is now offering a new version of the Inspiron Mini 10 netbook in Europe. For the most part, the new Dell Inspiron Mini 1018 looks a lot like the Mini 10 I reviewed earlier this year. But there are a few subtle differences:
- The touchpad appears to have separate left and right buttons instead of integrated buttons.
- The 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 CPU has been replaced with a 1.66GHz Atom N455 chip (with support for DDR3 memory).
- The entire netbook is now one color instead of two.
The rest of the specs are pretty much the same, which means you’re looking at a netbook with a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, 1GB of memory, a 160GB hard drive, and Windows 7 Starter Edition. It’s available for 279 Euros and up, or about $358.
You can find out more about the new model at Dell UK and Dell Italy.
Update: Dell says the Mini 1018 will be available in other regions this Fall. The laptop will apparently not be available with a high resolution 1366 x 768 pixel display or Broadcom Crystal HD video accelerator, but Dell will continue offering the Inspiron Mini 1012 for customers who want those features.
