Starbucks joins the 21st century, makes free WiFi easier to access

As expected, Starbucks is now making it easier to access free WiFi at all of its coffee shops in the US. The company has been offering free WiFi for a few years now, but until today you had to register for an AT&T account to use the service — which kind of slows down the process of getting online for the first time.

As of today, all you have to do is connect your mobile device to a Starbucks WiFi network, fire up your web browser, and agree to the terms of service (or just check the box that says you’ve read and agreed to them anyway).

Would be nice if they brought that to the UK! I do most of my updates to SammyNetbook in a local coffee shop during lunch breaks.

But that said, my 3G reception is pretty good in most places and I always have doubts over security on these open WiFi networks!

I have no doubt the popularity of StarBucks will increase. It would be nice to surf the net while drinking my cup of tea. :)
