HP Pavilion dm1z 11.6 inch AMD-powered notebook now available

HP has begun selling the Pavilion dm1z thin and light laptop in the US. This thin and light laptop features an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display and an AMD chipset. The base model has a 1.7GHz AMD Athon II Neo K125 processor, but there are several dual core upgrade options. Each version ships with ATI Radeon 4225 graphics.

The laptop comes with 2GB to 5GB of DDR3 memory and 7200RPM hard drives ranging in size from 250GB to 500GB. There’s also a 128GB solid state disc option. Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit comes standard, but you can also upgrade to Windows 7 Professional.

The base model starts at $449.99, but if you want Bluetooth, an SSD, an extra 6 cell battery, and a dual core processor, the price can easily double. There’s also a 3G modem option which would set you back $100, but you’ll get a $100 credit if you activate service with Verizon.

Or if you’re looking for the lowest possible price, you can grab the default configuration and use the coupon code SVMB39487 to knock $25 off the price and pick up the notebook for $424.99.

Seems nice, not quite enough to upgrade from my HP 311 but still seems good. I don't know why, but I love the idea of a dual core netbook. Looks like the HP 311 chassis, which is a good body.

(Side note I which they'd bring back a model similar to the HP 2140/2133 body, or at least something like it to fit the newer screens and motherboards, love the aluminum look and the expresscard 54 slot)
