Best Buy Connect to offer CLEAR WiMAX 4G service

  • Email

Last month Best Buy launched a new service called Best Buy Connect that lets users sign up for mobile broadband access at select stores across the US. At the time, Best Buy connect only offers 3G wireless plans, but now the company has announced plans to begin offering 4G WiMAX connectivity as well.

Best Buy isn’t actually building its own WiMAX network. Instead, the company will be using the Clearwire 4G network. In other words, you can pretty much just skip Best Buy and go straight to CLEAR to sign up for service in most of the areas where Best Buy Connect will be offering 4G.

But I suspect that Best Buy may offer discounts on netbooks and other WiMAX capable devices to customers who sign up for service through Best Buy Connect.
