Asus Eee PC 1215N with NVIDIA ION to ship next month

If you’ve been waiting (im)patiently for Asus to bring the Eee PC 1215N mini-laptop with next-gen NVIDIA ION graphics to the US, it looks like you might have to wait just a little bit longer. Engadget reports that Asus will start shipping the laptop in the States on or around August 23rd.

Sure, next week would have been more exciting. But we’ll have to take what we can get.

The Eee PC 1215N will have a 12.1 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, a 1.8GHz Intel Atom D525 dual core processor, and the latest NVIDIA ION graphics as well as NVIDIA Optimus technology for automatically switching between the low power Intel graphics and the higher performance NVIDIA graphcis — which draw more power and reduce your overal battery life.

The notebook is expected to sell for under $500.

Here comes the best seller all time. Gotta say I'm disappointed at the lack of ION netbooks. But for the 1215N, it has pretty much everything that I want or need. Everything. People like to say consumers don't want or need ION type graphic abilities out of netbooks, but for me that theory is simply rubbish. My feeling is that ION makes a netbook a tad too enticing. Throw in Optimus and you wonder why anyone could justify spending another $100 to $150 on a ULV. Nvidia must be going bonkers about it. Asus really are the only company using ION. It seems like more a strategic/political move than it does a move because consumers certainly want some HD or light gaming out of their netbooks.

I totally agree to your views. There are many who actually like thier netbooks. With ION and Optimus this would actually will a lot more heart.

People those who complain about netbooks are people who have never or hardly used the device for a daily use.

For those who have second views about buying a Netbook, my advice would be just try one out and I can assure you that you will fall in love with the device.
