Second-generation Sony Vaio P up for pre-order
The new version of the Sony Vaio P, which the company introduced about a month ago, is now available for pre-order for $899 and up. What it lacks in affordability, it makes up for in portability. The new Vaio P is about the same size as the first generation, which is to say it weighs 1.3 pounds and measures just 9.6″ 0.8″ x 4.7″ and features an 8 inch, 1600 x 768 pixel display.
The updated model is available in a choice of colors including black, white, orange, pink and green. It also adds an optical touchpad to the bezel, and an accelerometer that lets you automatically rotate the display when you tilt the device, or control games, applications, or even web browsing by tilting the Vaio P to the left or right.
The base model ships with a 128GB solid state drive, 2GB of DDR2 memory, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, and a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor. The Vaio P runs Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit. And despite the SSD, high resolution display, and a few other premium features, I still think the thing costs too much. But maybe that’s just me.
