Samsung launches updated N230, N220, NB30 netbooks

Hot on the heels of the recently launched Samsung N150 Plus netbook, Samsung is sprucing up a few more models, including the Samsung N220, N230, and NB30.

Basically all that means is that the new models have 250GB hard drives instead of 160GB disks.

All three models have 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processors, 1GB of RAM, 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel displays, and 802.11b/g/n WiFi. Each runs Windows 7 Starter Edition.

The Samsung N230 has a brushed metal-style case, while the NB30 has a semi-rugged design with a spill-resistant keyboard. The Samsung N220 has a simple plastic case and a matte display.

There are a few other minor differences between the models. The Samsung N230, for instance weighs 2.2 pounds, while the N150 weighs 2.7, the NB30 is 2.8 pounds, and the N220 is 2.9 pounds.

Samsung always seems to make very functional notebooks/notebooks, but they don't really seem to push the edge with styling or tech. Maybe, that's good since their prices always seem reasonable, but I wouldn’t mind if they tried to make something like the Sony Vaio X that is super light and super thin.

If Samsung pushed their tech a bit harder with something thinner, lighter and with an ION 2 graphics I'd buy a new netbook today. After nearly three years I'm due for a new netbook….I want to buy…I just need a good reason.

I checked out the US Samsung site and it is not listed there yet neither does the UK site has it.

So I can say that it will be available only in certain countries now?

Ah, just in time! I've found the replacement for my beloved NC10 Touchscreen, which is beginning to have some usage rash as I carry it everywhere. The KEY to this netbook is the FLAT BLACK bezel and MATTE screen, neither of which is a MIRROR!….just like my NC10 was before I added the touchscreen, which I won't do again. The non-reflective screen is more important.
Faster, more storage, same big load of useful ports, but Win7 I wish I could buy it without as it's a wasted bloatware. I'm only going to dump it and put XPSP3 and Ubuntu for Netbooks dual boot on it, anyway. Hope BillyDOS doesn't mind….
XP for those programs I must, Ubuntu I love. The NC10 also is running MeeGo for Netbooks 1.0 off a 16GB SDHC plugged into a USB adapter so it'll boot to it so I can play with that.

Thanks, SAMSUNG! Ship it to America…you came to your senses and gave me another NON REFLECTIVE netbook!
