HTC could be working on a dual-screen netbook… or smartphone

HTC is best known for making smartphones, but the company has dipped its toe into the mobile internet device arena. Now it looks like the company could be working on a dual touchscreen device. It could be a netbook/tablet combination device. But it’s more likely some sort of mobile phone.

What’s interesting about this concept is the idea that you could replace the physical keyboard found on most QWERTY phones with a virtual, on-screen keyboard. This would allow you to use the second display to either show a keyboard or additional content. Perhaps you could have a contact list on one side and an IM window or phone call window in the other.

ZOL suggests that when the screens are all the way open, the device will treat them as a single large display, which would be ideal for viewing web pages, video, or other content.

It’s not clear if or when we’ll ever see this concept device turned into a real product.

That sounds really cool. I hope they make it.

    Kind of looks like… Courier.

Or the MSI dual screen… People are too hung up on a device that doesn't exist, with nothing but media shots to give us an idea on what it's going to do. It's like the supposition surrounding the iPad before it was even announced as a project Apple was working on.

Once we get even an actual hands on Demo, we can talk about what devices look like it. Until all we're doing is saying one piece of vaporware looks like another.
