OpenPeak OpenTablet 7 is pretty much what it sounds like

The OpenTablet 7 from OpenPeak is a touchscreen tablet with a 7 inch display. You could probably have figured that out from the name. Here’s what the name doesn’t tell you: It features 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, and 3G mobile broadband connectivity. It’s powered by an Intel Moorestown CPU, and can serve double duty as a phone and wireless media/web tablet.

The user interface is powered by Flash. So it sounds like the tablet might actually be able to handle Flash video from the web, something that most tablets and smartphones on the market today can’t do. But OpenPeak is really promoting the Flash basis for the OpenTablet because it means that third party developers will be able to write applications for the tablet using Adobe Flash CS4. That’s pretty much it for the “open” end of things. The software and hardware don’t appear to be open source, per se.

No word on pricing or a launch date yet.

It looks cool. If it is priced low enough, I can see the appeal of such a device. I think it would be great for taking to wifi hot spots and other similar places.

I think it shouldn't use the word 'open' because it misslead you thinking you can tweak as you pleasure the device and it isn't…

Yeah it'll be interesting to see how it works with wifi 3g etc… I don't want to be stuck with an AT&T contract. The device looks promising. I can hear people bitching already “They copied the Ipad!” Well technically it's just a form factor. It'd be like saying companies are copying other laptops when they develop a laptop. That's just silly. Just like everyone thinks because a phone is touchscreen it's copying the Iphone.
