LG introduces T280 thin and light notebook

  • Email

LG may have just introduced three new ultraportable laptops at CES in January, but the company ain’t done yet. LG Korea has unveiled a new thin and light machine called the LG T280. It has an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display and an Intel CULV processor.

The T280 is available with either a 1.3GHz Pentium SU4100 dual core CPU or a marginally more powerful 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor. The laptop has integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics, 2GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive, and 802.11b/g/n WiFi. It has a 6 cell battery, HDMI and VGA output, and runs Windows 7 Home Premium. The LG T280 weighs 3.1 pounds.

Aestheticaly, the laptop looks pretty nice. The bezel around the display is kept to a minimum, and the keyboard looks like it’s pretty much full size. On the down side, I don’t see any buttons below the touchpad, which means you’ll have to press down on the touchpad to register right and left click actions. The LG T280 will sell for the equivalent of about a$1000 in Korea. No word on a US release date.

LG is also making the X200 laptop that we saw at CES official. This model packs a 10.1 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, Intel Atom N450 CPU, and Windows 7 Starter Edition.

If it has multitouch/multitap support, it doesn't need buttons. I hardly ever use the physical buttons on my eeePC. Why bother with stiff, clicky buttons when I can one-finger tap for left-click, three-finger tap for right click and two-finger tap for center button?
