My asus 1005ha has a 6300mah battery. Xp is much faster than win7.
Yes a bigger hdd and 2gb ram. The almost $100. difference is not worth it for me. I just read some benchmark on the the 1005pe and the pine trail is actually a little slower than the asus 1008ha. All things considered I think it's a step down.

Thanks Brad for the info, I am glad it can handle premium. But don't forget Win 7 Premium adds to the final price a lot and its close to touching the CULV price region. Might as well buy a CULV than a slow Atom.

So much for a “spec bump”: The display resolution is still the abysmal 1024×600, and you get only the weaker 4400 mAh battery…

I couldn't care less about 250 vs. 320 GB hard disk, but I need a HD display (fed up with all the scrolling) and really long battery life.

Actually Windows 7 Home Premium runs quite well on Atom powered netbooks.
There is little difference in the system requirements for Starter and Home
Premium.

The Atom will have a hard time handling Premium and Aero. There are some fools who pick on netbooks having Win 7 Starter. There is a reason for this. Starter is smaller and more compact and does not suck up resources.

An Atom can only handle XP or Win 7 Starter. Yes it can use Win 7 Premium but it will crawl like a snail.

The above is a raw deal. Who wants more hard disk space at the expense of a mere low end 4400mAh battery?
