Up close with the Lenovo ThinkPad X100e – Video

Lenovo is starting to show off its new ThinkPad X100e thin and light laptop. This business-oriented machine features an 11.6 inch HD display, an AMD processor, and a full sized istland-style keyboard. That keyboard layout makes it stand apart from most of the laptops in the ThinkPad, but like a typical business notebook from Lenovo, the X100e features a TrackPoint nub in the middle of the keyboard as well as a decent sized touchpad.

Lenovo ThinkPad designer David Hill posted a short video on the Lenovo design blog to talk about the ThinkPad X100e. You can check it out after the break.

Engadget’s Joanna Stern also got a chance to check one out recently, and she’s posted some of the first real-world pictures I’ve seen.

We’ll have to wait until review units are available before we can talk about performance. But the Lenovo ThinkPad X100e is certainly a nice looking machine, even if the 3 cell version does only get an estimate 2 hours of battery life.

Video after the break.

Looks great. But when a x200s can be had for just over $900 with a 9 cell battery, I think the x100e should only be considered by those on a strict budget.

I really want to know where you can get an X200s with the 9-cell battery for only $900.

    Everywhere I've seen it it's well over a grand…

X100e is for the ~$500 market.

Deal says it's expiring today, but I'm sure something similar will be around after it does.

Why? Why would anyone want this computer? Why can't Lenovo get this market segment right? 2 hour battery? Please….
