Lenovo recently sent me an IdeaPad S12 to review. If you’ve been reading this site for a while, you probably know that I already reviewed the IdeaPad S12 last summer. What makes the new model different is the fact that it replaces the Intel GMA 950 graphics found in the earlier model with NVIDIA ION graphics. That means the new version should be able to handle 1080p HD video and some modern video games.

It’s also a bit more expensive, but them’s the breaks. The IdeaPad S12 with NVIDIA ION starts at $599, while the same laptop with Intel graphics sells for as low as $429.

The new model also ships with Windows 7 Home Premium  and 2 to 3GB of RAM, which gives it a bit more oomph than the version I already reviewed. But it still uses the same Intel Atom N270 CPU, so I don’t expect to see too much difference in day to day performance.

You can check out my unboxing video after the break.

  1. Never seen an upside down ethernet jack before.

Man you have lots of notebooks just coming in. You’re gonna be busy.

    1. I’m sure his per hour wage is more than going to make up for the extra “work”. 😉
