The PCD X220 tablet style netbook looks awfully familiar…

When I spotted the X220 netbook with a touchscreen display at the PCD area this weekend, I kind of thought it looked familiar. And then I looked at the lid, which doesn’t have the PCD brand name at the moment. Instead it says Haier, which makes sense, since the PCD X220 appears to be little more than a rebranded version of the Haier X220 I spotted a few days ago.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Both models feature 10 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel touchscreen displays that can be folded down over the keyboard for use in tablet mode. You also get a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, a 1.3MP webcam, and a card reader. The PCD version is also available with optional EVDO or HSDPA 3G modules.

The X220 isn’t the most exciting tablet style netbook I’ve seen. But it’s expected to sell for $400 or less, which could make it one of the cheapest.

The hinge design looks pretty creative. Have you tried writing on the screen with your palm resting on the screen? I imagine the type of screen it has offers palm rejection by default but I’d like to know for sure.
