Asus Eee PC 1005P keyboard
I’ve been wondering what makes the Eee PC 1005PE different from the 1005P for a little while. Today I found out: The keyboard and battery.
Basically, both models are available with the same configuration options including 1GB of RAM, 160GB/250GB/320GB hard drives, Windows 7 Starter, and Intel Atom N450 processors. But there are a few minor differences.
First, the Eee PC 1005PE comes with either a 63Whr or a 48Whr battery, while the 1005P is only available with the lower capacity battery. That’s not necessarily that big a deal, since Asus claims you can get 11 hours of battery life from the 48Whr battery. That probably translates to around 8 hours in real-world conditions.
Second, the Eee PC 1005PE has a chiclet-style keyboard, while the 1005P has a keyboard with flat keys, but without the same kind of gaps between the keys.
Finally, the Asus Eee PC 1005PE is already available in the US for around $380, while the 1005P may or may not be offered in this market.
More pictures after the break.
