Samsung Netbook with Moblin Linux – Now with more video

  • Email

You know, I spent a fair bit of time waxing poetic about just how snappy the Samsung N127 with Moblin Linux was yesterday. But showing is always better than telling. So I popped back over to Samsung’s exhibit today and shot a short video showing how Moblin works on the netbook. The short answer is, it works fast.

Flipping through menus was a breeze, the animated transition effects are attractive, and it can handle most basic tasks including surfing the web with multiple browser tabs open and watching online video from sites like YouTube.

You can check out my hands-on video after the break.

I like the browser, optimizes the little pixel space netbooks have.

Moblin has always been breezingly fast on any netbook, though one designed with it in mind is a plus. On my Dell Mini 9, it works fine after replacing the Broadcom wi-fi card, apart from not resuming from suspend properly with the more recent Moblin updates.
