Pre-CES netbook leaks coming fast and furious

  • Email

CES starts in just a few days, and I suspect we’ll see quite a few new netbook, notebook, smartbook, and tablet launches at the event. But while Sony, Lenovo, HP, and other companies would probably like to keep a lid on those products until launch day, it’s kind of hard to keep products a secret when you plan to start shipping them globally shortly after introducing them.

With that in mind, here’s a quick roundup of some of the latest news leaks related to previously unannounced netbooks:

  • HP Mini 210 makes a surprise appearance at a Costco in Oregon
  • Greek retailer Compuland is showing listings for a number of new Sony notebooks with 13 inch and larger displays and low power Intel CULV processors
  • Lenovo’s unannounced Skylight smartbook pics and details are splashed all over the web (one of the original articles has been removed, but you can find pictures and some specs at Generation MP3 and Netbook News.de)
  • Lenovo’s upcoming IdeaPad S10-3 will reportedly sell for $350, while the touchscreen S10-3t will go for $400.

I suspect we’ll be hearing more about all of these computers over the course of the next week.

Looking forward to some smartbooks. Lots of talk the past few months but nothing seems to appear. Hope they (manufacturers) just don't say that the concept is merely a prototype and have decided not to introduce smartbooks.

Nice to jump into the smartbook bandwagon since the netbooks have not really improved since the N270. Only battery life has improved from the mere 5 hours to around 10 hours. But other than that. netbooks still crawl like a snail.
