HP has already said that the Qualcomm Snapdragon-based smartbook running Google Android that it was showing off at CES earlier this month was just a prototype and isn’t ready for prime time yet. But there’s mounting evidence that the company is planning to launch something in the smartbook space.
Wireless Goodness spotted an FCC listing today for something called the HP HSTNH-F23C today, which the documents refer to as a “SmartBook.” It’s possible that HP will redub the device the “Compaq AirLife 100” when it’s released.
Wireless Goodness points out that a trademark filing for AirLife indicates that the name could be applied to HP’s phones, computers, and PDAs.
There are no pictures of the device yet, but based on some very vague drawings showing the FCC label location, it looks like the AirLife 100 will be either laptop or tablet-shaped. It will have Bluetooth and 802.11b/g WiFi capabilities as well as 3G connectivity.
