First look at the Intel app store for Moblin Linux – Video

The beta version of Intel’s app store for netbooks (or the AppUp Center, as Intel calls it) is only available for Windows at the moment. But Intel plans to roll out a Moblin Linux version soon, and Nicole from Netbook News got an early look at the Moblin version at CES.

For the most part, the Moblin version looks a lot like the Windows version. That means you can browse through applications by category and purchase or download free apps all from one central location. You can read user ratings and comments, and visit the MyApps section to see a list of programs you’ve downloaded. Any application you purchase can be downloaded on up to 5 Moblin systems.

The user interface has been tweaked to look more like the Moblin UI and less like a Windows utility. And there will be a number of open source applications that are available in the Moblin store that aren’t available in the Windows version.

You can check out Nicole’s hands-on video after the break.

What do you think about App Up!?
I'm getting a behind the scene's tour on Thursday in Oregon. They also told me that they might be convinced to tweak a netbook app for me based on my suggestions!! :D

I can pass your suggestions on to them! Please leave comments!! I'll put them together and bring them straight to the App Up! team.
