1.83GHz version of the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t coming soon?

Intel hasn’t officially launched the 1.83GHz Intel Atom N470 Pine Trail chip yet. All of the new Pine Trail netbooks launched over the past few weeks have been outfitted with 1.66GHz Atom N450 processors instead. But I’ve seen a number of product listings and spec sheets that mention the faster chip. And now a little sleuthing has led me to the conclusion that the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3 netbook and/or S10-3t tablet will soon be available with the N470 chip.

Here’s the evidence. First, the FCC has a product listing for a netbook manufactured by Taiwanese OEM Quanta. While there are no actual pictures, there is a drawing of the underside where the FCC label will be affixed, and it certainly looks like a laptop. In another document posted on the FCC web site, the product is described as a Lenovo Notebook Computer, Model No 20039xxxx, 0647xxxx.

A Google search for “Lenovo 0647″ brings up an Amazon listing for the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3, which is available for pre-order for $379.99. Nothing too interesting there. But a search for “Lenovo 20039″ brings up an Energy Star listing for the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3 Notebook/Tablet. Here the product is described as the “most feature-rich model in the family,” and the processor speed is listed as 1.83GHz.

Does this mean that the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t will be the first netbook with this CPU to hit the streets? Not necessarily. I just happened to find an online paper trail that points to the laptop being at least one netbook that will sport Intel’s speedier Pine Trail chip.

Update: As Ganesh points out in the comments below, the Atom N470 version of the S10-3t is already available for order from Lenovo with an estimated ship date of “more than 4 weeks.” So much for my detective work. This model also has 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, ships with Windows 7 Home Premium, and costs about $100 more than the base model, at $650.

As far as I’m aware, Intel still hasn’t officially acknowledged the existence of the N470 processor yet, but it looks like the point might be moot. If computers begin shipping with the faster chipset soon, does it really matter if there’s an official announcement or not?

If they use an Atom Z540 CPU in this particular model, the stock clock speed would be right at 1.83GHz.
