I snagged the Fujitsu U810 from sellout.woot a few weeks back when they had it for $400, and I've been reasonably happy with it. The 800MHz CPU and painfully slow SD card slot are a major hindrance, though. I had eyed a U820, but the price is still pretty steep, and I was holding out to see where Fujitsu was taking their UMPC line. I guess we have our answer.

I'm not sure what to say about this device. I like the capacitive multi-touch screen, but I'm not sure how useful it will be with such a high resolution on a tiny screen. My fingers just aren't that small! Also, I like the ability to use a stylus for note taking on my U810, and that's the primary reason I picked it up. Looks like Fujitsu didn't include an active digitizer in addition to the capacitive touch screen, which makes this kind of useless for my needs.

I'm also not sure why they chose a clam shell design for a touchscreen computer. That's going to be VERY awkward to use. If the screen can't fold down over the keyboard, it should at least fold completely flat, and it doesn't look like this can. But then again, if there's no stylus, perhaps they're assuming nobody is going to take notes on it.

Well, I guess the best I can hope for is that this will drive the price down on the remaining stock of U820's. I'm also keeping an eye on all the new tablet netbooks coming out. I'm sure something nice will show up in my price range before I get bored with my U810, but this sure isn't it. =)

Looks great but yet again there is room for a wider screen on the unit. Why don't they extend the screen another inch or so? If they did that then maybe your eyes would survive a bit longer and in my view would make the device perfect!

Come on, somebody, for gods sake, make something like this with a wider screen (use up that bezel space!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Sheessssssssssshhhhhhhhhh...

I'm not sure I understand where the "snarkiness" is coming from with this post, because this looks like a perfect replacement for the U820. It's a bit wider, so it'll be easier to type on than the U820, still has a touchscreen and includes some pretty impressive specs. An SSD, 3G and 2GBs of RAM? Nice.

I'm glad to see Fujitsu hasn't forsaken the "ultra mobile PC" lineup. With the passing of FlipStart, OQO, Raon and others, it's nice to see there are still some strong offerings for "passenger seat" UMPCs.

I love these tiny PCs because you whip them out, check a few emails, etc, and slap them back in the bag w/o worrying about having juice left once you reach your destination. Finding an outlet at an airport is damn near impossible these days and being able to get by with one of these vs. a full blown notebook is a great option.

Yeah, a netbook can do this too, but a netbook won't fit in your pocket. Probably why the Viliv S5 is selling like hotcakes.

And anyone punching *themselves* is the face is always funny.....

Who cares what OS is on it. As long as I can start FF (Icon, Windows key shortcuts or programmable buttons) this is going to be one fast, usable, mobile desktop browser. Remember that font sizes can be pumped up. Price is very high but that's Fuji. Aimed at Pro's.

I'm a technician, so after 10 years of dealing with retail customers who don't pay attention I figure it's time to start telling it like it is ;)

Next time, make sure you're not drinking coffee. Now that I know I came close, you're doomed. Doomed, I tell you!
