Installing XP is not going to speed it up at all. Win7 OS is faster than XP, and it might be impossible to find hardware drivers as the netbook was not designed for XP

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your advice as to how to disable the mouse pad when typing! After daily frustrations, I finally enjoy using the laptop. I wanted to return it. :)

Not sure what you mean by that this model is 'too slow'. I own the original version since June (nb205-n311) and by adding the broadcom crystal hd card the video performance is close to my dual core machines (viewing 780p, and a bit of tweaking for 1080p). Except for a minor ram compatibility problem initially, it has performed very nicely for 8 straight months. Quad booting UNR karmic, Leopard, xp, and moblin.

I just got the Toshiba NB 205, which I liked a lot, except when I was keyboarding, letters would randomly appear in earlier words. Your directions to resolve this are excellent, and I am now completely happy with my new netbook. Thanks so much.

I found xp drivers on toshiba's website but I'm bringing this thing back to best buy today. My only question is what I want to replace it with. Does anyone know any better netbooks? If so please let me know. I love the simplicity and convenience of being able to carry these things in a small bag.
