Liliputing Holiday Giveaway: Universal car mount from Ultimate-Netbook

universal mount

Car-mounts for netbooks are fascinating things. Add a GPS receiver and your netbook can instantly become a full featured GPS system with an enormous display (by GPS standards). You can also use a mount to plug a netbook into your car audio system and use it as a jukebox, although I’d recommend having the person in the passenger’s seat manage the media player controls.

UK-based retailer Ultimate-Netbook offers a universal car mount that can accommodate netbooks ranging from 7″ to 13″ in size. It normally retails for about $36, but Ultimate Netbook has offered up the universal mount along with a $25 universal netbook car charger with a USB port for the Liliputing Holiday Giveway.

In order to enter, just leave a comment below explaining what you plan to do with this car mount and car charger set. The contest is open to anyone in the world, and I’ll randomly select a winner after the contest closes at 12:01AM Eastern on November 27th.

Make sure to read the official contest rules before entering.

i'm probably gonna use it to mount my laptop in my car and watch movies while driving. wish me luck!

  • Mithinco

Probably for music, movies, and hopefully figure out how to add GPS onto it.

  • ossi

I think I would use it for music and perhaps later for gps. Add touchscreen and voila!

  • Dainis

Will use it for GPS navigation.

  • afio

    For GPS use!!!

  • Dan

GPS for me, and when I'm not using the GPS, movies for the passengers!

  • johnmar

I'd crank out some serious tunes on the move. Rock on Baby!

I do lots of traveling, and this will be a perfect combination with my 3G modem :) I'll be online from my car like, always :)

  • Steven522

I would use this as a music player in my car as a combo and take the charger with us on long drives such as vacations in my wife's car.

  • N.

I'd use the car mount and charger to play all my music!

  • viva

To read Lilliputing feeds during traffic jams :-)

  • mobilemail

This is toooooo coooolll! I really really really really need one of these!!!! I have to travel a regional area for my job, leaving home for days at a time. This would make navigation so much nicer than counting on my dinky little GPS. Pick me! Pick me!

My plans are to mount it so that my Starfield screen saver will make it seem like I'm driving insanely fast through Hyperspace. Also GPS

  • jsp4057

I would use it for gps and movies for pasenger

  • kevem

Nice! i would definitely use this for gps and my friends to select songs to play in my car. Plus surfing the web

  • http://minormutterings.blogspot.com/ Jerry

If I was to be so fortunate to win this I would use it, along with my Dell Mini9, to manage Disaster Relief activities while responding to call outs.

  • Scott

Actually I am kind of a skeptic wondering if a lot of this stuff really works.
So that would be my reason, to see if it works. I could get lost in the Oregon coast woods where I live though, there stories all the time about that. (I really hope I am not that lame though)I have never even seen anything gps and come from a time where you just got a free map that doesn't talk to you. By the way trying to see the contest rules didnt work for me says “You do not have permission to preview drafts.”

  • sindhudweep

Use it as part of a james bond like car experiment.

This would be nice for my little trips out and about. Pretty cool setup. Thanks for the contest.

  • glennski

This would be the perfect way to check updates from lilliputing and to make sure that I don't miss any future contest opportunities.

  • markntravis

I would use it for GPS. I already have the GPS receiver and MS Streets & Trips 2010.

  • http://sv-se.facebook.com/m.lamme Martin Lamme

I'm going to use it for easy listening to Spotify!

  • petepdx

A great idea for GPS. Also, after washing the window with Windex, this would make a great mount for use OUTSIDE of your car (i.e., while taking a break at a rest stop).

  • Kevin

Install it in my truck, charge up my lappy and listen to some Pandora or something like that…

  • Wahoomcdaniel

I'd mount it in the car and use it as a GPS netbook. The larger screen would be a relief to my tired driving eyes.

  • revoke

I would use the mount to build the ultimate trip computer for my car. I already have the netbook and GPS. Just no mount. This would be perfect for my drive from Michigan to Florida next year.

I'd use it for the GPS and playing music while traveling.

  • MIke

I'd use it for all the things that the other commenters have mentioned!

  • test666v2

    EEEPC+GPS+3G

  • Jacob

I never thought about using my netbook as a GPS system. This mount looks useful, count me in!

  • K.W.Eaches

I do a lot of rolling around doing local IT support, and there's a lot of sitting in the car filling out invoices, etc. . Mounting my Aspire 1410 in this would be great. I already use it with a GPS dongle. With a USB cell modem I'd pretty much be able to ditch the stand-alone GPS, other laptop, MP3 player, AND phone. That's kinda sweet.

  • Aaron

I would use it to watch movies with my girlfriend. A nice little cheap date night.

  • Shirley

This would be great to keep my husband mind on something other than my driving and let me drive in peace and quiet. I do hope it includes ear phones.

  • acantos

i will probably use it according to its purpose…

  • niko123

I would use it with my Acer Aspire One (old SSD version) for GPS navigation. For the moment, I am obliged to have a copilot holding my laptop ;-)

  • Mikhail

    Watch movies!

  • http://twitter.com/carlos_stein Carlos Marcelo Stein

    GPS and music

  • kit temple

I'm gonna put it there to teach my girlfriend how to read maps.

  • Andrew

Free car mount please. It's for watching movies and sending Google chat messages while speeding down the highway obviously.

  • jason_wilkins

I would use it for doing time-lapse videos on long car rides.

  • Bill E

Yea, with this I could play freecell instead of texting, you know they want you to quit texting while driving.

  • Dan

Asus 701 4G, MS Streets and Trips 2010, USB GPS Receiver, Car Charger, Logitech TrackMan on center console

Currently installed with a seat bolted, dvd player mount but this would be awesome to have.
