Dell goes greenish with bamboo-based packaging for netbooks

dell bamboo

Dell has started using bamboo in the packaging for some of its products including Dell Inspiron Mini 10 and Inspiron Mini 10v netboooks. The bamboo will be used instead of foam, while the cardboard boxes that Dell uses to ship the computers is made of 25% post-consumer recycled material.

Bamboo is generally considered to be a much more renewable resource than paper, foam, or other materials that often get used in packaging, since bamboo grows quickly.

Dell is expected to expand its use of bamboo packaging to additional products next year.

Interesting, but at the same time. . .
Nearly everything packaged in Asia for, well forever, has been using
“rice paper” and “rice paper cardboard” – -
Which is “eco aware” since people you only eat the grains –
the rest of the plant is already available for other uses.
You don't even have to plant the bamboo.
    Hmm…
I suppose that Dell might be recycling bamboo huts. ;)

Items made from recycled paper is also green. It keeps it from landfills.
