I know that your not able to have that longer lasting battery but its able to play HD video which is a plus, if I were to purchase this netbook then i would certainly use it on the bus as its a 2+hour bus ride to school from my current home, so having something to do on the bus would be really nice to have

Do you thin ASUS 1008HA with window 7 performs better than having an XP ???? i did read an article that says window 7 on ASUS 1008HA will expand the battery life up to 6 hours , when running on XP the ASUS 1008HA battery life is about 5hours

If you're on Vista already – well Windows 7 is “meh”. If not, well many of the bumps have been addressed (mostly by the vendors of the products that got bumped) so now might be the right time to move.

Of note on the battery front: my Eee 1000HA after about 10 months started not charging every second or third time I booted up. Removal of the battery, followed by quickly dusting it off and replacing it fixed the problem every time. But I would have been SOL if the battery hadn't been user-replaceable.
