I bought the 1810TZ today, and in Windows when the battery was down to 84% it said there were 3h 30min left. I repeat, that was at 84%. So, no, I don't think 8h is very realistic, unless the computer is completely idle.

well looking at some reviews i have seen the battery life does seem to hold up to the claims.

This one claims 12.5 hours of idle time (wireless off, minimum brightness)and right about 6 hours of web surfing.

And the one here claims 8 hours and 45 minutes of run time on their web surfing test but this on the 1810T not the TZ.

With battery life like this and considerably more computing power than a normal netbook while keeping the same size and weight while not even being that much more expensive than a high end netbook im confused as to why Acer said they were unhappy with the series.

what i am most curious about the 1810 is the battery life. It is listed as having an 8 hour battery. obviously Acer's claim is likely generous, but is that supposed to be with wifi on or with it off.
