Sony introduces Vaio L all-in-one touchscreen desktop

Don’t feel like spending $1300 on Sony’s glorified netbook? For the same amount of cash, it looks like you’ll be able to pick up Sony’s first all-in-one desktop to features a touchscreen interface. The Sony Vaio L is a 24-inch PC with a 1080p display and a starting price of $1300.

For that price you’ll get a 2.7GHz Intel Pentium dual core CPU, NVIDIA GeForce G210M graphics, 4GB of RAM, a 320GB display and a DVD burner.

If you’ve got a bit more cash to spare you’ll be able to pick up a Vaio L with options including a 2.66GHz Core 2 Quad processor, 1TB of storage, a Blu-Ray drive, and an integrated ATSC tuner.

The computer is up for pre-order now, and should be available in November.

Or you could just pick up a smaller model for nearly half the price from Gateway.

Sure for an all in one the Gateway cost half the amount…but the last Gateway I saw ran and looked like a flaming turd. I'm not saying that we should pay Sony's prices…but if presented with those two options I'm not sure the Gateways is a better deal. Maybe, that just means Asus, Lenovo or MSi gets my money for an all-in-one.

If Acer wants to re-badge their products with their “value brand” I'm not sure I trust why they would do that…

If I had the money to spend, I could see getting the one with the integrated Blu-Ray and TV tuner. Media Center + gaming + all the streaming services + no stray boxes to make it all work = best bedroom TV ever.

Just looking at it I like how “plain” it is, not weird chrome bits. Screen, Sony stenciled in White, and a utilitarian keyboard. I like that look, it is not flashy or extremely stylish, but I like how it would just blend.

It costs more then I would pay, but then again it not really for me…it for a housewife who volunteers of that PTO, drives that kids to soccer practice and drinks her scotch on that rocks as her maid cleans the kitchen she doesn’t know how to use.
