Guide to overclocking Intel Atom-powered netbooks

  • Email

Computer World has put together a list of 5 ways to overclock many netbooks with Intel Atom processors. I’ve covered many of these tips and tools before, including Eeectl and GMABooster. But it’s nice to find them all in one place, and more importantly, I’m a sucker for people who actually take the time to interview me before quoting me in the lead of their articles.

Eric called me to talk about overclocking netbooks a while back and I’d totally forgotten about it until the article popped up on my radar this morning. He’s also managed to find a few tricks that I hadn’t seen before, including the GMA OverClocking utility for boosting graphics performance on netbooks that have been hacked to run OS X.

Of course, if you have an Asus or MSI netbook you probably have some overclocking software installed by default. But most of the applications Eric mentions will let you go above and beyond the clock speeds you can achieve using those tools.

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed, follow us on Twitter, or "like" us on Facebook. Thanks for visiting!

Its interesting that he doesn't talk about any Linux-specific hacks. There are some interesting things in the works for Linux users, but the kernel doesn't support them “officially”…
