nokia italy booklet

If you thought that $800 base price for the upcoming Nokia Booklet 3G was a bit high, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Nokia has started taking pre-orders for the slim and feature-packed netbook in Italy. For the low high price of €699 you can place an order today. That’s about $1,017 US.

To be fair, this is an unlocked unit that can be used on any wireless network that supports HSDPA/HSUPA. the laptop has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 120Gb hard drive, and runs Windows 7 (which means it probably isn’t going to ship until after October 22nd.

Odds are you’ll be able to pick one up for a much lower price once telecoms start to offer subsidized versions to customers who sign up for long term service plans. But if you just can’t wait, and you’re in Italy, you can get your orders in today.

    Pretty optimistic aren't they?

Given enough Sambuca, someone might buy one.

Nokia devices sold in official Nokia consumer shops are always vastly overpriced – it's simply not their dominating method of sale, one for which their channels of distribution aren't geared; Nokia sells their products almost exclusivelly through carriers/3rd party establishments.

Nothing to see here, move along…

I no one really taking into account that the €699 value is inclusive of 20% VAT? Deduce that and you have a sum that's pretty near to the $800 mark
