Netbooks account for 10 percent of Toshiba’s US laptop sales

Toshiba was relatively late to enter the US netbook market. HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, Asus, MSI, and a handful of other companies all launched mini-laptops in the US before Toshiba finally brought the NB205 to our shores this summer. But the Toshiba NB205 has been met with positive reviews and it’s available from a wide range of sources including online retailers and big box electronics stores like Best Buy. Long story short, Reuters reports that netboks now make up 10% of Toshiba’s laptop sales in the United States.

A Toshiba manager says that the company probably could have sold even more if it hadn’t been for some supply issues.

Of course, while Toshiba’s netbooks are helping he company compete with all the other PC vendors selling low cost mini-laptops, no company that sells high end laptops really wants to see netbooks account for too high a percentage of overall sales.

I actually find myself surprised that it is only 10%.
