Sorry, i see no reason why such machine should cost more than 400-500$. For 1000$ i can get decent spec'd laptop with really good battery life. Greedy computer makers

What is that big area blocked off behind the keyboard? That looks like the reason the touchpad is so cramped, but I can't imagine what in the world it's there for.

$1000-$1200 for a version with a ULV Core 2 Duo would be a good deal for someone who wants significantly more horsepower than the CULV chips -- decent-sized compiles, things like that. If it also came with a GPU that could run reasonably current games, it would be made of win. Traditional ultralight systems with those specs always start at a minimum of $1500.

Having said that, if they're charging $1000 for anything less than a Core 2 Duo, it better be pretty amazing in some other way.
