Is the HP Mini 311c an 11.6 inch notebook with NVIDIA ION graphics?

Remember those new HP Mini netbook model numbers I told you about, oh, I don’t know… yesterday? It looks like at least one of those notebooks could be a mini-laptop with an 11.6 inch display and NVIDIA ION graphics. Netbook News.de dug up a few product listings for an as-yet-announced machine called the HP Mini 311c.

According to More Computers, the HP Mini 311c will have an 11.6 inch HD display, 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, Bluetooth, and 802.11b/g WIFi.  Top Product throws in a few extra details including a 6 cell battery and NVIDIA ION LE graphics.

The computer will reportedly measure 11.4″  x 8.03″ x 1.2″ and weigh 3.2 pounds. More Computers is listing the machine for £292.58 excluding VAT, which is about $480 US.

Funny they choose a 11.4″ screen now where Dell has discontinued there 12″ version because poeple dont want bigger than 10″ on a netbook

Ion LE this late in the game? By the time it ships, Windows 7 will be right around the corner. What's the point? They should be prepping hardware that's Windows 7 ready, and that means full blown Ion and DirectX 10 support.

Look, these manufacturers need to get the mix right. We want a netbook that's about 10.5″, 1366×768 resolution screen, 2GB of RAM, fast Atom processor (N280 or better), nVidia Ion with DirectX 10 support, wireless N, 1.3 mp camera or better, bluetooth, as much connectivity as possible and a battery that lasts for, at least, 7 hours – for $450 or less. Is it doable? I'm sure someone will do it within time. There are AMD Neo netbooks with Radeon graphics that come close, but they're usually bigger netbooks. Size, or lack thereof, does matter. Also, Intel graphics are crap! We want to play our games on the go. What's the problem?

the problem is the market is willing to pay more for that. give it time.

is it really the hardware or the way better drivers nvidia gives us? blender runs just fine on my mini 2140 as long as i use an older distro (thankfully my work distro is based on ubuntu 8.10 but this is still annoying when i want to play with newer toys)

As long as we have a wish list going lets add matte display or at least an option for it. Id also want a wacom with capacitive touch screen that disables when the pen is near that also turns off when the pen is in its holder so as not to waste battery life. there should also be a switch to turn off the touch screen. and a 3d motion sensor. just for fun.
