BIOS update fixes fan problem with Eee Box B202

The Asus Eee Box B202 was the first Intel Atom powered nettop from Asus. In fact, it was one of the first nettops on the market, if you consider a nettop to be a low cost small form factor PC with guts that would make a netbook proud (typically an Intel Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, and Linux or Windows XP).

But even with a low power processor, it’s hard to make a computer that small without having a little heat buildup, so Asus threw a fan in the nettop. Unfortunately, some users found that the fan never really shuts off even though it doesn’t need to run all the time. Now Blogeee reports that Asus has released a BIOS update for the Eee Box B202 that resolves this issue.

You can download the latest BIOS (version 1114) from the Asus support site.
