Asus Eee PC 1001HA hits Europe: 1005HA with a decorative lid

1001ha

Several European retailers are taking orders for an unannounced Asus netbook called the Eee PC 1001HA. From the look of it, the laptop is basically an Eee PC 1005HA with a different finish. Instead of a glossy black or white lid, you get a wavy pattern that makes the lid look like carbon fiber.

Eee PC.it has some photos, but doesn’t provide the links to the actual retailers so I can’t double check the specs. But according to the web site, the laptop has your usual 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, and Windows XP Home. Interestingly, the 1001HA reportedly has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU while the 1005HA has a faster 1.66GHz Atom N280 processor.

The laptops will reportedly ship next week for between 250 and 300 Euros. No word on if or when they’ll be available outside of Europe, but just in case you’re curious, that’s about $368 to $442 US.

Gotta love the ASUS 1005HA laptops!

They should try releasing an Atom processor with a much higher FSB so that netbooks will be more responsive while gaming. I have found that the graphics ability of the netbooks are impaired by this as well.

I wrote a review of the ASUS 1005HA that provides some processor performance numbers.
