Acer Aspire 1410 gets rebranded again: Meet the Gateway EC1803h

gateway ec1803hI’m starting to think that Acer plans to launch every new laptop three times. Over the past few years, Acer acquired competitors Gateway and Packard Bell, and now it seems like the company can’t resist slapping three different labels on each new product and launching an Acer, Gateway and Packard Bell version of everything. The latest example? The Gateway EC1803h, which recently went on sale in Canada.

The EC1803h is pretty much exactly the same machine as the Acer Aspire 1410 or Packard Bell Dot M/U. It has an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Solo SU3500 processor, GMA 4500MHD graphics, and a 250GB hard drive. It has the same 6 cell, 440mAh battery as the Acer Aspire 1410, which Acer rates as a 6 cell battery, but which I’m finding is more of a 4-5 hour battery in everyday use.

One thing that does set the Gateway EC1803h apart is the fact that it ships with 3GB of RAM while the other computers it’s modeled after ship with 2GB. But all of these laptops support up to 4GB of RAM, so you can always upgrade on your own.

The EC1803h is available for about $499 Canadian, which is about $462 US.
