I put together a homebrew netbook with liquid-cooled dual quad-core Xeons and 32GB of RAM that weighs 2 pounds and gets 20 hours battery life. It uses a chipset I designed myself using an FPGA.

It was a simple project -- I don't see why all the big manufacturers can't get these things right!

Maybe people will be happy when they have one of those
UltraSparic chips with 8 cores and 8 hyper-threads per core
in their NetBook. Then I suppose they would complain about
either the battery run time or the cooling. (64 process threads
takes a bit of power and generates a bit of heat.)
