Verizon introduces USB modem for use around the world

Verizon’s new AD3700 USB modem looks like a pretty awesome tool for globe-trotters. In the US, the modem will connect to Verizon’s EV-DO network. But if you’re on the go, it will work in 175 countries because the modem support GSM, GPRS, EDGE, HSPA, and UMTS.

The modem itself will only set you back $80 with a mail-in rebate and 2 year service contract. But as far as I can tell, that $40 to $60 per month will only buy you coverage in the US. Additional fees may apply if you actually try to use this global modem, you know, globally.
