How to install a netbook touchscreen

touchscreen installation

The makers of the FidoHub touchscreen kits for netbooks ship a handy set of instructions with each kit. But if you’re not sure if you’re ready to dissect your computer and start poking around at its insides, you might want to check out Laptop Magazine’s excellent touchscreen installation guide first.

On the one hand, the guide provides step by step instructions for disassembling an Asus Eee PC 1000 series netbook and installing a touchscreen. On the other hand, the guide doesn’t make the process look any easier than it is, so it should scare away a few people who really aren’t ready to perform this kind of surgery on their netbooks.

FidoHub also makes touchscreen kits for mini-laptops from Acer, Dell, Lenovo, MSI, Samsung, as well as several other Asus netbook models. The kits are available for purchase from the FidoHub web site or the company’s eBay store.

Does anyone make these with multitouch? With Windows 7 right around the corner, that would be much cooler.

  • markntravis

Multitouch would require a capacitive touchscreen which cost a whole bunch more.

The Laptop Mag walk thru forgot a few steps in the reassembly and the steps they laid out were not very clear.
