I'm in the same boat…once you add in tax and shipping, it's a cool $600+ for an basic config with HD. A little steep for a netbook IMHO.

I'm more displeased that to get the HD version of this for less than $550 I have to strip out Bluetooth, 6-cell battery and Windows … MS office is important to me. Come on with the pre-configured HP; 6-cell, HD screen, Windows … you'll have my business. Do it fast, cuz that Dell with all of the above AND a TV tuner for $399 is calling my name.

I'm not aware of any netbook that qualifies for the free Windows 7
upgrade. Basically the fact that it has an Atom processor and runs
Windows XP pretty much rules it out.

Wait… why can I get a 5101 with Linux and an HD display, but in order to get a Mini 110 with the HD display, I have to get XP? I am displeased.

I have never understood HP's configuration pricing. Sure, a preconfigured unit is cheaper to make than a custom one, but it does NOT cost $100-$200 to do so. People may bitch about Apple's high prices, but if they say it'll be $50 to upgrade the hard drive, then it's $50 full stop.
