The hands-on videos of Computex

1101ha-computex

As you may have noticed, I’m not in Taiwan this week for the big Computex trade show. But a number of friends of the site including jkkmobile, Sascha Pallenberg, and Joanna Stern are there, and they can’t stop shooting videos of all the cool new toys.

So here’s a roundup of some of the best videos from the past 24 hours.

Hands on with the Asus Eee PC 1101HA (Laptop Magazine): The Asus Eee PC 1101HA is the first member of the Eee PC family to sport an 11.6, 1366 x 768 pixel display. And Laptop Magazine’s Joanna Stern shot one of the first videos I’ve seen of this laptop with a 1.3GHz Intel Atom Z520 CPU, 1GB of RAM, and 160GB hard drive. Unfortunately, Laptop Magazine’s videos aren’t embeddable, so you’ll have to hop on over to their page to watch this video. One thing worth noting is that the Eee PC 1101HA seems to have the same keyboard as early Eee PC netbooks with a small right shift key awkwardly positioned so that touch typists will probably hit the up arrow when you want to hit shift.

Hands on with Pixel Qi’s new ePaper screen (jkkmobile): Sure, we already saw the first detailed video of Pixel Qi’s new 3qi display yesterday. But the dual mode ePaper/full color screen is amazing and worth another look. You can check out jkkmobile’s video hands-on after the break.

First look at the latest netbooks from ECS (NetbookNews.de): Sascha posted three different videos looking at the three latest netbooks from ECS. The T10IL, V10IL, and T20IL. The T20IL has an 11.6 inch screen and a CULV processor, while the other two models feature a more traditional netbook-like design with 10 inch screens and Intel Atom processors. You can find all three videos after the break.

Why they didn't put the new keyboard from the 1008HA into the 1101HA baffles the hell out of me. Seems to me every single manufacturer is crippling the hell out of their 11.6″ “netbooks”. From the crappy processor to this, a crappy keyboard… I think I'm officially done hoping for the perfect netbook, as its not going to happen… Well, I am getting my new Acer 3935 in the mail from Newegg today! Its definitely not a netbook but this thing is sure to kick some ass.
