The S10 was unsuccessful and the S10-2 has a ridiculous design for exactly the same reason: Lenovo doesn't listen to what their customers want. The dicked us around with the original S10 intro by shipping something other than what they promised after many delays just to grab market share. They could not get together an honest, coherent response to anything asked of them. They didn't listen to complaints and they didn't listen to compliments, either. Some of the best features of the S10, loved by many users, have been dropped in the S10-2, such as the non-glare screen, matte finish casing and OS-agnostic keyboard. Why?

Even if you disregard the ungainly battery protrusion, I think the design change from S10 to S10-2 went from sublime to ridiculous.

Maybe they thought the S10 was unsuccessful because it wasn't shiny and knife-edged like the other netbooks. Actually it was the keyboard and other problems. The case design was the best thing it had going for it.

If I were the one who designed the original S10, I'd be biting nails now.

Seeing the protruding 6-cell always peeves me. Why is it that Samsung and Asus can build netbooks with good battery life by default, but if you want good battery life from HP, Dell, some Acers, and Lenovo you have to add a large, cancerous tumor to the case of your tiny netbook.

It just stinks design-wise, makes it harder to pack into a messenger bag, ruins the fitment of protective sleeves, and makes a tiny netbook as thick as an old laptop from 1993. Really dumb.
