Intel still hasn’t gone into detail about its upcoming Intel Atom processors, codenamed “pineview.” But hot on the heels of a rumor that a new Pinetrail-based Intel Atom N450 chip later this year, comes a report of leaked product roadmap.

According to HKEPC’s “industry sources,” Intel is planning three different chips as part of the Pineview family. There will be a single-core Atom N400 chip aimed at netbooks, and a single core Atom D400 CPU for low power desktops or nettops. There will also reportedly be a dual core version for nettops called the Atom D500, and all three chips will be paired with the Intel NM10 chipset.

The first chip expected to hit the streets will be the N450 aimed at netbooks. It will run at 1.66GHz, have 512KB of L2 cache, and support up to 2GB of RAM. The integrated graphics processor will get a speed bump from 133MHz to 200MHz, but it will include the GMA500 graphics processor instead of the GMA950 graphics available in most current netbooks.

The chips are expected to use as little as half the power of today’s Atom processors.

Does anyone know if Intel GPUs are on the same die and the CPU? If so does that hinder pairing them up w/ another company's GPU, say NVIDIA? Thanks

They couldn't launch it soon enough. Finally a chance for ultraportables that aren't sub-optimal.

(together with PixelQi screen and could we please have at least one netbook with Trackpoint?…)

    No Ion will still work.
