Huawei netbook with UMTS 3G support looks familiar…

huawei netbook

Computer maker Huawei is showing off a 10 inch netbook at the CommunicAsia trade show. The computer uses an Intel Atom CPU, has 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive. It also has an integrated  UMTS wireless broadband modem.

But the other striking thing about this netbook is that it looks kind of familiar. As Netbook News.de points out, it bears a pretty noticeable resemblance to the Asus Eee PC S101. It’s not an exact clone. The S101 has a single touchpad button instead of two, and it doesn’t have the LED lights at the front of the laptop like the Huawei machine. But the overall shape of the computer, screen bezel, keyboard and touchpad do look an awful lot like the Eee PC S101.

Anyway, I doubt we’ll be seeing the Huawei netbook in the US anytime soon.
