Sorry, tess. No disk drive or cd drive. I have had one for several months now and love it. However, every now and then I will be typing and hit a key that locks it up tighter than a drum. It's still running but the keyboard and mouse don't work. I wonder if anyone else has had that problem.

You can get an external drive so you can still play your games.

What is the maximum resolution on an external monitor? I'd like to use my 1400 by 900 acer x193W at times, but for long periods... so I wouldn't like to have to use a non-native resolution and get a monster headache...

thanks!

Well, it has some really nice advantages over the older 1000H model , mainly in size and weight and probably a slightly better keyboard. The overall glossyness is just tasteless in my view, but a glossy screen really is a no-go, especially if you use it a lot outdoors - so i think i ll pass this one. Another quirk seems to be the bright blue led when its hibernating, the older model had this on the charger, and it used to lighten up the whole room at night, but could easily remedied by using black tape - that seems not to be an option on the machine itself ....i wonder whatever happend to the design department at asus, since the old eee models didnt have such easely avoidable flaws?!

Seems very nice. I do agree the lack of access to the internals is a problem. I would probably want to crank the RAM up to 2GB, given its an N-series CPU and supports that, but it sounds quite difficult based on the disassemblies I've seen. Sounds just slightly less difficult to upgrade the drive, which again I might be inclined to swap out for an SSD just because I like my netbooks to be solid state.

How are the speakers? I always find netbook speakers to be poor. More interested in the volume level (without distortion) for listening to movies or TV or whatever rather than cranking music thru them, but whatever you care to comment on...

I'm pretty sure I pushed the screen all or most of the way back in the
first photo in the design section. I'll double check when I get a
chance and let you know if I'm wrong.

On Thu, Jun 11, 2009 at 11:50 PM,

How far back does the screen tilt? I'm curious to know whether one can semi-comfortably use the machine as a pseudo e-book reader.

With the rocker style mouse button, is it possible to click both buttons at once? I don't think lmb+rmb does anything in windows, but it is very helpful in Linux.
