ZaReason to develop a Linux powered netbook

zareason-logoZaReason sells computers configured with Linux. The company was one of the first to offer the Everex Cloudbook with the gOS operating system well over a year ago, but that particular netbook was poorly designed and never sold very well. Now it looks like ZaReason is planning to build its own Linux-powered netbook.

In an interview with WorksWithU, ZaReason CEO Cathy Malmrose said the company will definitely be launching a netbook, but hasn’t yet decided whether to release one soon or to wait until Intel’s new Pine Trail architecture is available. The Pine Trail platform will offer faster performance and lower energy consumption than the Intel Atom processors available today.

Another business that builds and sells Linux computers in the US is System76. That company began offering a netbook running Ubuntu 9.04 Linux in April.
