You can’t always get what you want (Dell Vostro A90/Mini 9 mixup)

  • Email

The Dell Vostro A90 and Dell Inspiron Mini 9 are basically the same computer. They have the same specs, run the same software, and even take the same BIOS updates. The only real difference is that the Vostro A90 has a solid black chassis and is marketed as a business class machine, while the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 has a black and gray case and is aimed at consumers.

So when MyDellMini Forum member jhk1976 ordered a Vostro A90 and received a Dell Inspiron Mini 9 instead, it wasn’t the end of the world — it just wasn’t what he’d asked for.

Fortunately, it sounds like Dell is willing to replace his computer with a Vostro A90. But the moral of this story is to make sure you inspect what comes in the box closely when you place an  order for a netbook. And don’t be afraid to call and complain if there’s a problem.

Why not just call it a Dell Mini 9 in color: flat black. This was a dumb and unnecessary name change.
