Sony Vaio P drops Vista, picks up Windows XP

  • Email

There have always been four things that set the Sony Vaio P apart from most netbooks: It’s smaller, has an incredibly wide screen with a crazy display resolution, it costs a heck of a lot more than most netbooks, and it runs Windows Vista… poorly. Now it looks like Sony Japan is getting ready to resolve that last issue by replacing Vista with Windows XP.

Some users have been “downgrading” their Vaio P units from Vista to XP for a while, and the computer reportedly runs much faster. But not all of the Sony hardware and applications were officially supported. Now you’ll be able to pick up a Sony Vaio P running XP complete with features like Sony’s quick boot media software. If you’re in Japan anyway. There’s no word on if or when the XP model will be available in the US.

The new model should be available in Japan on June 6th for 85,000 yen or about about $892 US.

Overpriced piece of fancy dancy shite that's too small to be useful & too big to be pocketable.
