Skytone Alpha 680 netbook Google Android spotted in the wild

If that blurry video of a Skytone Alpha 680 netbook running the Google Android operating system a few weeks ago wasn’t doing it for you, a member of the modmyGphone forums has posted a few up close and personal photos of the Alpha 680 that should give you a better idea of what this netbook looks like.

As you can see from the photos, the Skytone Alpha 680 features a folding tablet style design. The 7 inch, 800 x 480 pixel touchscreen can be folded over the keyboard, allowing you to use the netbook in tablet mode. That makes sense, since Android was originally designed for mobile phones and features touchscreen capabilities. I also find that netbooks with 7 inch displays often have cramped keyboards that are only comfortable to use for short periods of time.

The mini-laptop has a 533MHz ARM11 based CPU, 128MB of RAM, 1 to 4GB of solid state storage, WiFi, Ethernet, and an optional wireless broadband modem. It could be out later this year for around $250.

It's that price that's going to kill them on this. NEXT!

Wow – a lot sleeker looking of a model than I've seen for ARMbooks so far.

Android on netbooks will fail, just like every other version of Linux on netbooks. For the most part, people just prefer Windows.
