Samsung N310 now shipping

The Samsung N310 is apparently now shipping. SammyNetbook forum member justinl posts that he already received his. He says the case material is “very tactile,” with a non-slip feel. And describes the keyboard as one of the best netbook keyboards available. Performance-wise, this netbook is pretty much par for the course, which isn’t surprising considering it’s specs are pretty much exactly the same as most other netbooks on the market today.

As you’d expect, the glossy screen reflects some glare and probably isn’t well suited to outdoor use.

The Samsung N310 isn’t shipping in the US yet, but it is available for order in the UK and Korea.

I laud Samsung for introducing a model with a tactile rubbery finish. I would be willing to pay $30-40 extra for that on any given netbook. Maybe it will catch on and give folks who don't care for smudgy-gloss another choice.

I think it even makes the other colors more appealing (versus black, which I've always preferred) and helps fight the kitchen/bathroom gadget resemblance of some of the more plasticy-looking models.

The overall appearance is sleek yet functional looking. The glass screen seems breakable to me, but everybody seems to like them. I could tolerate the glossy screen and don't even mind the big Samsung logo. Now if they would just put in the new processor and chipset and offer a screen resolution choice.
