msi-x340The MSI X340 notebook is now available in the US for $799.99 and up. This notebook is bigger than a netbook, thanks to its 13.4 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display. It’s also more powerful, with an Intel ULV SU3500 CPU, GMA 4500HD graphics. It has 2GB of RAM and a 320Gb hard drive, but like MSI’s netbooks it’s a thin and light machine.

In fact, the X340 is even thinner than most netbooks, measuring just 0.78 inches thick. The machine includes 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth, a 1.3MP camera, 2 USB ports, VGA and HDMI output, and an SD Card slot. It comes with either a 4 cell or 8 cell battery, although to get that $799 price you’re going to have to stick with the 4 cell.

The MSI X340 is available at the following locations:

  • $800 from Amazon
  • $800 from Newegg
  • $800 from ZipZoomfly
  • $800 from Buy.com
  • $810 from Mwave

Ugh, I really wanted this notebook when I first saw it but after I heard that the keyboard sucks and they put in that same terrible Sentelic touchpad, it kinda killed that for me.

I'm going to go ahead and put down an extra hundred bucks and get an acer 3935 which is way more powerful, still under an inch thick, lasts about 4 hours on a charge, has a optical drive (not needed but a possible plus), and has an awesome design with an aluminum case.
